I’d like to see how you draw the connection between the Pink Guards and the police force. Despite sharing the same desperation, poverty, and anguish as the players, the Pink Guards—who should naturally empathize with them—are instead weaponized by the elites to enforce their agenda.

And they are also corrupt (selling body parts). I also hear people saying season 2 was not great but I think it is the best because it isn't just about the game or the players but also the guards and workers in the institution

The Stanford prison experiment is the only explanation I can think of for the guards‘ behaviour. Also taking the general themes of the show, i.e. the game as a metaphor for Capitalism, I view the guards and players as people trying to „win“ in a rigged game that ultimately only one could win and even then they can only do it by abandoning their humanity. I’ll do a deeper dive into the criticism of capitalism in the show in the next essay ☺️
